Haydan Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Cost Engineer, reporting to the Senior Project Manager and working closely
with the Cost Manager, to support the Borough-Based Jails (BBJ) Program. The candidate should
have knowledge of the construction process and experience on large-scale projects.
- Program cost controls, including budget updating, forecasting, and earned value tracking.
- Review contractor change orders, schedules of values, and cost proposals.
- Track and reconcile payments, invoices, and commitments at the project and program level.
- Assist in the review of contractor claims and provide support during negotiations.
- Coordinate with schedulers, estimators, and project managers for integrated program reporting.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly cost reports, variance analysis, and cash flow forecasts.
- Support weekly and monthly meetings and progress reporting.
- Support the implementation of cost control software within the PMIS.
Skills:
- Strong problem recognition/avoidance/resolutions skills
- Proficiency with cost management software (Primavera Cost Manager, Prism, Procore, E-Builder
or similar) - Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, dashboards)
- Proficient in SharePoint and MS Office
- Strong organization skills and analytical skills
- Excellent verbal, written, and numeracy skills in a client-facing capacity
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and emerging technologies
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Project Management, Cost Management,
Engineering, Finance or related field - 3+ years of relevant experience in cost engineering, cost control, estimating, or project controls
- Experience on large-scale ($100M+) construction programs; NYC public agency experience (DDC,
MTA, SCA, etc.) strongly preferred. - Familiarity with design-build delivery methods desirable
Rate: $50-$53/Hr.
