Haydan Consultants, Inc has an opening for an Assistant Project Manager in Rosedale, New York
The position duties are as follows: For various and unanticipated client sites throughout the New York metropolitan area, which includes the states of NY and NJ, and involves short and long term assignments. The Assistant Project Manager will be responsible for providing engineering-based management, review, and oversight of the design and construction of the Newark AirTrain guideway structure for both on-airport and off-airport segments, including areas within New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) and Northeast Corridor (NEC) jurisdictions, to ensure compliance with contractual, technical, and regulatory requirements. Daily job duties include:
- Review, analyze, and assist in overseeing structural and civil engineering design packages for the guideway structure and associated fixed facilities to ensure conformance with contract documents, applicable codes, and project specifications;
- Coordinate with the Program Integration team to verify that guideway design and construction activities align with system technology interface requirements;
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the technical and commercial requirements of the design-build contract and assist in evaluating contractor submittals, shop drawings, and design deliverables for compliance;
- Collaborate with the Lead Guideway Project Manager, project managers, Port Authority representatives, and Guideway & Stations subject matter experts to coordinate, review, and resolve design and engineering issues;
- Distribute engineering design documents for interdisciplinary review, consolidate and document review comments, and track resolutions to ensure consistency, constructability, and compliance with contract requirements;
- Provide technical support to the Construction Management Division (CMD) during the construction phase, including review of construction activities, field conditions, and interface coordination to confirm adherence to approved designs and contractual obligations; and
- Support testing, commissioning, and acceptance of the guideway structure and related fixed facilities to achieve readiness for first passenger service.
The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, a related field or foreign equivalent, plus five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the design or construction of rail or roadway bridge structures. Experience must include:
- 5 years of experience applying structural design principles and analyses of both concrete and steel elevated guideway or bridge structures, including familiarity with applicable design codes and standards;
- 5 years of experience supporting Requests for Information (RFIs) and other submittals during construction;
- 5 years of experience working with established engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and technical systems in large-scale infrastructure or transportation projects;
- 5 years of experience working with aviation or transportation infrastructure, including terminals, parking structures, airside and landside roadways or bridges, and applicable safety and security requirements; and
- 5 years of experience working with transportation or rail-related infrastructure, including platforms, station or terminal connections, and associated structural systems.
Offered Wage / Wage Range: $145,000 – $150,000 per year
