We are looking for a motivated Cost Estimator / Cost Control Specialist to join our team on a multi-billion dollar design-build program consisting of multiple projects. The ideal candidate will assist in the estimating and cost management functions to help ensure project delivery aligns with the budget and quality standards. This position is suitable for individuals eager to develop their careers in construction cost management.
Estimating Support:
– Assist in the preparation of comprehensive cost estimates for various phases of the program, including conceptual estimates, detailed designs, and construction.
– Support the review and validation of cost estimates and proposals prepared by the design-build team throughout the project lifecycle.
– Help with the preparation and analysis of change orders and value engineering, ensuring all cost impacts are accurately documented.
Cost Control Activities:
– Contribute to implementing cost control processes to monitor project expenditures and assist in identifying potential budget overruns.
– Analyze project financial performance across multiple projects under the guidance of senior estimators, identifying variances and assisting in recommending corrective actions to keep the program within budget.
– Participate in cost validation activities to ensure the accuracy and reliability of cost data from various sources.
Design-Builder Bid Analysis and Payment Reviews:
– Assist in conducting bid cost analysis to assess the competitiveness and completeness of proposals from the design-build team.
– Support payment reviews to ensure that payments to the design-build team align with agreed terms and accurately reflect completed work.
Stakeholder Communication:
– Act as a point of contact for cost-related inquiries, facilitating communication between the ownership team and the design-build team as needed.
– Help maintain clear communication to ensure transparency and alignment on financial matters.
Collaboration and Development:
– Collaborate with senior estimators and project managers to align cost management strategies with program objectives.
– Work independently on assigned tasks while receiving guidance from senior staff and contributing to team efforts.
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
– 3 to 5 years of experience in estimating or cost control within the construction industry; entry-level experience is preferred but not required.
– Basic understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and cost management principles.
– Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel; experience with estimating software is a plus.
– Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret data and contribute to reports.
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a willingness to learn and grow within the
team.
Rate: $75/Hr.
