Haydan, in partnership with AECOM, is providing construction management and financial management services under several contracts with the New York City School Construction Authority (SCA), with the overall goal of completing projects on time and on budget while allowing participating contractors to gain experience to pursue larger projects. Responsibilities include design and constructability review, scheduling, estimating, project management, inspection and closeout. The Haydan team also mentors contractors in technical assistance and training, fast-track payment systems and job experience opportunities. Ultimately, the program provides SCA with a larger pool of experienced and qualified M/W/LBE firms, which become familiar with the procedures of a sizable city agency and the requirements of the local construction codes and environmental regulations. Additional services provided by Haydan include the establishment of a contractor database to manage fair bidding processes, one-on-one mentoring of contractors, monthly mentor program “lunch and learn” seminars and marketing and business development.
